A new push for the White Sands Scarborough development is underway, after several rounds of rejections.
The proposed $120 million apartment development was not approved by local government.
The development is now being changed to take on board feedback from various government and local challenges.
The site on West Coast Highway was withdrawn in October 2020 after community protests.
“This responds to community feedback which sought slender development to minimise visual impact.
“The realisation of one taller residential tower results in far less bulk or visual impact.”
The project mission is to “transform the White Sands Tavern site into a vibrant community-focussed market square that provides a convenient, inviting and high-quality destination for local residents to live, shop, eat and relax in a unique coastal setting.”
The development would be anchored by Woolworths Group.
