Breaking News: At least 7 homes have been lost east of Perth as high winds and hot temperatures fan the flames.

The fire at Wooroloo is impacting homes and a number have been lost, its been reported.

Firefighters are working to save homes and protect property and are unable to control the fire at this stage.

The fire is jumping up to 500 meters ahead of itself as it moves west, reporters on the ground said.

The fire is causing smoke to blanket Perth and ash to fall on some suburbs of Perth.

An evacuation centre has been set up at Brown Park Recreation Complex on Amherst Road in Swan View. For people East of Bailup Road and West of Toodyay Road, it is too late to leave. For people West of Bailup Road, if you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear by travelling north along Bailup Road or Mayo Road.
